Taylor Branch began his career in 1970 as a staff journalist, reporting for Esquire, Harper’s, and The Washington Monthly. He is the critically acclaimed author of the bestselling trilogy, AMERICA IN THE KING YEARS, a sweeping examination of the civil rights movement, volumes he recently condensed into THE KING YEARS.

Branch holds honorary doctoral degrees from ten colleges and universities. He has been awarded the Dayton Literary Peace Prize Lifetime Achievement Award, the National Humanities Medal, the Pulitzer Prize in History, and the National Book Critics Circle Award.

Branch lives in Baltimore, Maryland. He is currently at work on FREEDOM’S GATE, an examination of America’s insidious race divide, prying apart past and recent lessons we must make tangible to allow “freedom’s gate to spring open once again.” Anticipated release is 2022.
