Liz Darhansoff

Liz founded her eponymous agency in 1975 after spells at Atheneum, Random House, and ICM. She has been partners with Chuck Verrill since 1989, and together they have solidified a reputation among publishers for representing quality writers and lasting work. Currently, she takes on select projects with an emphasis on fiction and narrative nonfiction.

Michele Mortimer

Michele started with the agency as a freelance reader and joined full-time in 2003. She handles serial rights, permissions, and the editorial desk.

Agent-wise, she currently considers: literary fiction; historical fiction; sophisticated genre (crime, mystery, thrillers, horror); upmarket character-rich women’s fiction and smart romance; realism-based young adult fiction; memoirs, essays, and narrative nonfiction.

Nonfiction interests include: music, sports, wellness, the natural world, animal welfare, feminism, true crime, sociology, and culture both pop and serious.

Chuck Verrill

Chuck Verrill joined Liz on the agent side of publishing in 1989 after ten years as an editor at Viking Penguin and became an agency partner in 1991. With his experience across genres, he expanded the agency's profile, shepherding to print the works of Stanley Kunitz, William Langewieshe, and Abigail Thomas, amongst others. He was widely known as Stephen King's longtime agent. He died on January 9, 2022 and is profoundly missed.

Eric Amling

Eric Amling joined the agency in 2009. He is our Business Manager and Foreign Rights Director, coordinating relationships with subagents across all major territories. As an agent, he is currently considering literary fiction, poetry, art criticism, and cookbooks.
