JULIE GIESEKE

"Gieseke bares her true self and emotions, rather than letting them become eclipsed by bravado and showmanship . . . her warmth and sincerity give you the sense that you are being told a story by a close friend."

SOLO SHOWS

Female presenting. Queer identified. Bi-racial. Julie Gieseke grew up as a brown child in a white family. Her father is Peruvian, though they did not meet until she was well into her adulthood. She has spent many years getting comfortable claiming many identities and now just prefers Complicated Human. She speaks, draws, and writes things she has kept hidden—her secrets, her longings, her fears, striving to find belonging in a shared otherness of what we all keep unseen. She has written and performed autobiographical material on stage since 2010, touring in festivals in New York, Vancouver, San Francisco and Dublin Ireland. In the professional realm, she is a visual facilitator, consultant,  and coach, leading groups and individuals in strategy and visioning sessions for over twenty years. She lives on the northern California coast.  THERE ARE WORSE THINGS THAN BEING ALONE is her first book.
